Best Top High Back Front Seat Covers Review

One of the things as a Jeep owner you want to do is, be able to use your Jeep the way you always imagined. The way the Jeep Wrangler is offered now days, though a good thing, with its creature comforts such as cloth or leather seats, carpeted floors, navigation systems, and so on, can interfere and be difficult to use your Jeep as a Jeep. We pay a lot of money for these wonderful vehicles, spend countless hours at a job you possible don't like and would prefer to be riding around in your Jeep somewhere, and therefore, you want to keep your Jeep looking as good as you possibly can. One area of this topic I will discuss is, your Jeeps seats, and how you can protect them from rain showers, dust, dirt, mud, and everyday wear and tear.

One way you can protect your Jeeps seats is a good water proof seat cover. Now before I begin with the review, yes, there are all kinds of seat covers that are offered for the Jeep Wrangler, and any vehicle at that rate, from cheap twenty dollar covers to two or three hundred dollar covers. But if you are like myself, your doing your best to get by, just making enough money to make a Jeep payment to the bank each month, there is a good all around option for folks.

When I went shopping for seat covers for my Jeep, I knew I didn't want the twenty dollar ones I could get from local chain stores, because they where not going to offer any rain protection, or durability, so I went looking on the internet and I found two brands that I liked, and later went with a company that has provided products for Jeeps for a long time, Best Top. I had purchased a new top for a 1993 Jeep Wrangler I had a long time ago, and was very satisfied with the product, so I decided to purchase the seat covers they offer for the 03-06 Jeep Wrangler. Let me say after owning and using them for well over two years now, I am very happy with my decision.

Pro's

The one thing I like about these covers, they offer some rain protection during sudden showers when you have the top down. The reason being, Best Top makes these covers from the same material as they make their Jeep soft tops from, a black diamond material, which offers water protection. So when you go out with your sweet heart to eat at the local drive in, have the top down, and your eating a hamburger inside, and a rain shower pops up, later you can just wipe the seat off and not worry about a wet bottom. Another pro, and with some upkeep along the way, they are durable. I work in the dirt and mud, and at the end of the work day, I like how I can just jump right in my Jeep, and not worry about staining the cloth seat upholstery, and the covers are somewhat easy to clean. Another thing I love about these covers, they fit tight to my Jeeps front seats, which is a huge plus in my opinion, and when installed, looks almost like they are the factory seat upholstery.

Con's

One little con I have with these covers is the redesign that Best Top chose to do with the 03-06 seat redesign. On the 03-06 covers, Best Top uses a neoprene material for the sides of the seat covers. On the early TJ seats, 97-02, the seat back was the round design, and the covers that Best Top offers for the early TJ seats is all black diamond material, therefore making it really water proof. When Jeep redesigned the Wranglers interior in 03, Best top made the newer covers with the neoprene material on the sides of the seat, therefore not making it as water proof as the early TJ covers they offer. Also if one doesn't keep any sort of sun protectant on the neoprene, I've found that they will begin to fade, turning from black to a purple color. I've worked really hard to keep some kind of protection on the sides, and even still they have still kind of faded. Lastly, one thing I don't like about these covers, and this is nothing that can be helped, because they are black, they collect a lot of heat. So on a hot summer day, before you sit down in your Jeep, be aware that you could possibly get burned a little.

These covers have been an awesome investment for my Jeep. They have allowed me to live care free and be able to just use my Jeep the way a Jeep was originally intended to be used in the early days. For $150 plus shipping, in the end, I am glad I purchased these covers. Hopefully with just simple upkeep, these covers will provide many years of service, and help me to enjoy my Jeep for years to come. Be advised there are many options available, and this option may or may not be for you.

Two Questions About The Jeep Wrangler Soft Top

For those that are not accustomed to the Jeep Wrangler, it is easy to have a lot questions about it for those that are interested in purchasing their first one. Are they cold in winter, are they noisy, uncomfortable, hot in the summer, and is it really for me? Today I would like to cover two of those questions in today's blog, and hopefully give some insight.

Is the Wrangler really cold in the winter, and hot in the summer? I can say surely over the last ten years of owning three Wranglers, it will blow your mind. In the winter time, even with a soft top on my Jeep, the heaters that are installed in Jeeps now days are very very hot, and I find myself a lot times, adjusting the temperature control and even rolling a window down a little to let in some cold air to cool the cab of the Jeep off. If one of your questions was about concern for staying warm inside a Jeep Wrangler, believe me, the heaters inside Jeep Wranglers now days are amazingly hot, and sometimes might even melt the rubber of your shoes.

Lastly, does the Wrangler have a lot of road noise inside the cab? I wish I could provide you with some numbers of the actual noise but I can not. I can how ever give you a user experienced review. My first Jeep Wrangler was a 1993 model, and I had to purchase a new top for this Jeep. I bought a cheap soft top to replace the worn one that was on it. It was a older style canvas material, and let me just say, you couldn't have a conversation with a passenger due to the material flopping as you went down the road. I later purchased another top that was made from a material called sail cloth, and let just say, it was a worlds better difference. I could actually have a conversation now with passengers, and to, I feel like the sail cloth material done a better job of keeping outside noise out as will.

Starting about 2003, Jeep started using sail cloth material on the Jeep Wrangler soft top models, and I've since read where they are using an even heavier style material on the newest Wranglers being sold new today. The heavier material I believe helps to keep the heat inside during the winter, and helps the a/c cool the cab of the Jeep in the summer time.

I hope I could give some insight about two questions about comfort from inside the Jeep Wrangler. I think that if you decide to purchase a soft top model Wrangler, you will be pleasantly surprised and will be pleased. Review of, Rain Gear Jeep Wrangler Cab Cover

One of the great things about owning a Jeep Wrangler is, you can remove the top and doors. Will when the weather is great, one doesn't worry much about the insides of his or her Jeep until rainy weather comes. Never fear, there are options for those that just own a hardtop, those that don't have a top, or for those that leave the soft top down in the warmer months. The answer is a water proof cab cover, and there are a few manufactures today that offer such products. The one I will be reviewing is the Rain Gear Cab Cover, and I will express pro's and con's about the cover since I've used it.

In 2011, I purchased a 2004 Wrangler with only a hard top, and at the time, I barely could afford to buy bologna to make sandwiches due to the fact I went into debt for the Jeep. I needed a cheap solution and so I got to doing a little research and discovered that a cab cover for my new to me Jeep was the answer. There where two brands I liked really well, and I decided to go with the Rain Gear brand.

I went to www.jeepcovers.com, and selected the products button. From there one will see a column to the left where you select the model of Jeep you own. Once there, you have two options, you can purchase a cover that fits over the Jeep with the top off, or you can pay a little more and get a cover that will slip over the Jeep with its top on.

I chose a cover that would slip over the Jeep with the top off because that's what I was needing. The shipping was fast, I received the cover in a matter of a few days, and was pleased. Inside the box I found, the cover which was inside it own carrying sack made of the same material, and a Rain Gear ball cap as a complimentary gift.

I unrolled the cover, and tried it on my Jeep. First thing you do is, make sure to flip the wipers up on your Jeep, then slip the front portion of the cover over the windshield, and begin working the back portion over the roll bars. The Rain Gear Cab Cover has several straps attached to the cover where one can attach the cover to the frame rail or other places of the Jeep to prevent the wind from blowing the cover off and to tighten the cover as will.

Once the cover is installed, place the wipers down in their normal position, and there are strips of velcro where one can attach to the wiper arms. With all the attachment options, it really helps to keep this cover on your Jeep.

I've used this cover for will over a year now, and I must say that, the pro's out weigh the con's. This cover has really came through and helped to keep my Jeep dry and to keep the elements out of the cab of my Jeep. With all the attachment straps, I've seen this thing hold up to 50 something mile per hour winds, maybe even more during thunderstorms which I found pretty impressive. This cover also is not to difficult to install on the Jeep and not to complicated to remove as will. And lastly, the Rain Gear Cover also covers the door area, for those that want to leave the doors off ones Jeep. For those that leave the doors on their Jeep, the cover also has a velcro area that fits around the post of the side mirrors.

There is one con to this cover that is somewhat annoying but can be resolved with a little engineering. When installed, and it comes a decent rain, the area right above the driver and passenger seats tends to accumulate a pool of water, large enough sometimes, fish could swim in. Doing a little research, I found on a Jeep enthusiast website of how to make a prop which attaches to the roll bars, and you install the cover over it keeping the cover raised in this area. The prop, which made from pvc pipe, can be easily constructed from two tee fittings cut in half, and three quarter inch pipe.

For those that are in need of a solution to keep the elements from the cab of his or her Jeep, the "Rain Gear Cab Cover", might be a solution. It can be purchased for prices ranging from $120 to $130 plus shipping and handling. If you do decide to purchase one of these covers, I don't think you will be disappointed.
